Center for the Study of Black Students
The Center for the Study of Black Students is designed to stimulate research and discussions on Black Student Unions and African American college students’: academic achievement; professional and pre-professional prospects; social and political impact on campuses. The center’s publications have discussed issues pertinent to the development of African American students utilizing emerging voices in African American scholarship. The first study from the center was a worthy 10 year follow up to the study “African American Student Achievement: The Black Student Union,” which was the basis for the formation of the Office of the Black Student Union. This study, “The Black Student Union: Historical and Contemporary Developments”, was released in 2009.
